Carshalton High School for Girls is a secondary school, located in the London Borough of Sutton, and has around 1200 pupils. Exedra Architects had been working with the school to achieve planning permission for extensive new sports and dining facilities, and MEB Design joined the project to assist with production of the tender information package. We were then novated to Armfield Construction for RIBA Stage 5, producing a full working drawing package, and liaising with the services engineers to coordinate the design.

The building included a new Sport England compliant 4 court sports hall, along with a 230 seat dining hall and kitchen and 9 mathematics classrooms, and accommodation for the dance and drama departments. This new building allowed the school to demolish several temporary mobile classrooms, and cleared space on the field for a new multi-use games area.

In addition, we built a linking structure between two recently completed modular buildings to provide a centre for the school’s sixth form.
